Executive Leadership

Adel Kanaan

Managing Director

Adel is a senior international Sales & Marketing executive with over 40 years of experience in lighting, utilities, electrical products, and controls. He has built sales teams, managed distribution channels, established joint ventures, and negotiated licensing agreements in more than 50 countries. Prior to co-founding Lumasense in 2004, Adel spent more than 20 years leading international expansions at Fortune 500 companies including GE and Hubbell. Adel has a BS and MS in Electrical Engineering from The American University of Beirut (AUB), and an MA in History from Yale University. He spends his free time in an award-winning Japanese garden which he designed, and maintains a vast collection of stamp & postal artifacts which chronicle Lebanese history from the Ottoman Empire to present-day.

Mike Kanaan

Co-Founder & Executive Director

Mike is an experienced entrepreneur and investor. In addition to co-founding Lumasense in 2005, Mike has founded companies in solar photovoltaics and biofuels. Mike leads the development of Lumasense's team across many functions, including strategy, organizational development, marketing, and business development. Mike has a passion for helping Lumasense put new lighting technologies to work for its clients, and was the first person in the Middle East to speak about LED lighting at seminars throughout the region. Mike has an MBA (Honors) from Boston University and a BS (Honors) in International Economics from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service. In his free time, Mike loves reading The Economist, cycling, hiking, yoga, meditation and playing with his dog "Bobi".

Charisse Chel

Chief Financial Officer

As CFO, Charisse oversees all of Lumasense's global financial operations and serves as a key member of our senior leadership team focusing on improving performance and profitability, while maintaining fiscal responsibility. She has been with the company since 2011 and brings over three decades of experience to Lumasense in financial development, systems implementations/improvements and international business. She has developed and implemented successful process improvements in the Company. Charisse's extensive financial background includes serving as Controller of Travelclick, and as Director of Special Projects/Finance at Smiths where she originally was with a venture capital start-up company that was purchased by Smiths, then as Director of Finance for Smiths Detection and finally serving on the SAP global implementation team. She was also CFO of a small publicly traded medical device company, and VP of Finance for a manufacturing company. Charisse received a BS in Business Administration/Accounting from University of Phoenix. Charisse loves traveling to visit her family, exploring new destinations, reading and antiquing.

Donnie de Dios

Vice President Services

As Vice President Services, Donnie is responsible for leading Lumasense's engineering team and co-ordinating both off-site and on-site support for Lumasense's projects. Upon starting at Lumasense, Donnie's first assignment was to supervise the installation, commissioning and programming of the largest networked lighting system in Color Kinetics' history, a 1087 square meter LED video screen for the Aspire Tower in Doha, Qatar. Since then, Donnie has been involved in hundreds of LED lighting and controls projects throughout the Middle East and Africa. Prior to joining Lumasense, Donnie was a Controls Engineer in Bahrain where he designed and implemented security, access control, surveillance and lighting controls systems. Donnie studied Electronics Communications Engineering and Computer Applications at De La Salle University in Manila, Philippines. He also studied Languages at Oxford University in the UK. Donnie enjoys his free time playing with his lovely baby girl. He was also an internationally ranked badminton player, and loves to go camping and fishing.

Elias Geha

Product and Business Development Manager

Elias is currently the Product and Business Development Manager at Lumasense, where his role is to expand Lumasense's solutions across major market segments. Prior to his current, role, Elias managed Lumasense's UAE sales where he was able to increase revenues despite the economic crisis. Prior to joining Lumasense, Elias worked for CCC — Consolidated Contractors Company as Automation Engineer in the oil and gas industry. He was in charge of telecom & networks mobilization of a $1 billion project in the Abu Dhabi, and completed it successfully in record time. Elias holds an MS degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Balamand in Lebanon, Elias recently got married, and enjoys outdoor activities, tennis and collecting coins.
